Today we're participating in a 24-readathon. As part of the fun, we'll be running a mini-challenge from 2-5 AM. In the meantime, we'll be posting about the books we will be reading throughout the day.
Feel free to comment if you'll be participating. Or just let us know about what you're reading. Talking books is a key part of the fun too!
Shel: Since I accomplished nothing yesterday, I decided I'd go nerdy to start the morning with some Alan Dundes for school.
9:30 AM Update (Shel): On second thought, with my drowsy beginning to the morning, I chose to begin with the newspaper. I learned Ray Browne, who coined the phrase "popular culture" died. He was a professor here in Ohio. See, my awesome state did contribute to popular culture in a major way! We gave it it's name. Take note world!
I have since turned to reading Shiver. It's by Maggie...Maggie Long Last Name That Starts With an S...*reaches for book* Stiefvater Soon, though, I must leave my book fort to venture out and see Ingrid Law, author of Savvy, speak at a local bookstore. I can't vow that I'll be reading the entire time. But my adventure is still book related!!!! Plus, I totally promise to read on the ride there and back. Virtual pinky swear!
Thanks for the encouragement so far, cheerleaders! You're comments make me happy.
Monica? You awake yet. *Knocks on computer screen* Hello? Wakey, Wakey! Books and coffee!
Hi Shel: I'm a cheerleader for the first time too! You're in my first group to cheer for, so, for hour one: congratulations on signing up, and I hope the next 24 hours are filled with books, and people talking about books for you! Mostly, lovely reading time for you.
ReplyDeleteOne day I hope to be able to participate to, but my children are too young to let me have 24 hours to read....
What books are you planning to read for this marathon?

ReplyDeleteTraditional read-a-thon blessing:
ReplyDeleteMay the bookshelf be there to greet you.
May all the books appeal.
May the fridge be full of tasty snacks;
the words fall soft upon your eyes and until the read-a-thon ends,
may you always hold a book in the palm of your hand.
Good luck today!
It's almost 12AM here in the Philippines and I'm on my break reading! Hello Shel! Hope you're having a blast with the Read-a-Thon!
ReplyDeleteOoh, and I love graphic novels. Just finished one myself :)
Have fun reading for the rest of the day!
